Digital Audio Recorders
( Model #s : Sony ICD-B120 / Olympus VN-3100 / Sony ICD-B500 / Olympus VN-2100 )

Digital audio recorders have become a staple "ghost-hunting" tool in the paranormal community. They are used during investigations to capture EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) which are oftentimes fragmented and sporadic sounds that cannot be explained by otherwise explainable stimuli (such as team members talking, house noises, etc.). These noises are believed to be the actual communication of supernatural entities. Like many other groups, our team usually dedicates specific times during an investigation to gather EVPs by asking the supposed spirit or spirits questions and reviewing the audio afterwards for evidence.

Noise Sensitive Microphones
( Omnidirectional & Electret Condenser Mics )

These microphones are used in conjunction with our digital audio recorders to enhance their sensitivity. Omnidirectional microphones can pick up sound from any direction rather than focusing on only the sound coming directly into the mic, hence the rounded end. Electret condenser mics contain integrated pre-amplifiers which strengthen the recording process. These are also omnidirectional.

Sony Mini Digital Video Recorder
(DCR-HC21)

We use this digital video recorder to film investigations. Of course we analyze all of the material filmed for any evidence of the supernatural since visual evidence is, if found, the "smoking gun" of a paranormal case.

Digital Cameras
( Kodak 12 MP - 5x Zoom / HP 2.2 MP / Samsung 7.2 MP - 17.4mm Zoom - ASR )

Digital cameras are another fundamental tool in our investigations. Capturing still evidence during investigations can add significant reassurance to claims or experiences of any particular case.

Disposable Camera

We sometimes use disposable cameras during our investigations as an alternate (but not replacement) to our digital cameras. The logic behind the usage of disposable cameras is that our case will be strengthened if similar evidence is discovered on both the digital and developmental media of photography. We definitely take into consideration anything that could be caused by the film development process itself.

Compass

A compass uses electromagnetic fields to provoke it's needle to align with the earth's own electromagnetic field, thus defining geographical direction. You may be thinking, "That's great...but what does that have to do with the paranormal?".

Well, a common theory amongst today's paranormal researchers is that when a spirit manifests itself, it will disturb the surrounding electromagnetic pull around it. When any electromagnetic disturbance occurs the needle of a compass will shift directions rapidly. Our team therefore uses compasses as a sort of "poor man's EMF detector".
